HANDS in Autism Art Exposition
I was a Program Assistant at HANDS in Autism on a volunteer basis for over three years. During my time there as a volunteer, I helped organize both the 2024 and 2025 annual Art Exposition. However, I was more involved in the organization of the 2025 Expo due to the lack of other volunteers and staff.
My responsibilities included:
-
Spreading the word about this event to past clients, past artists, other organizations, and students at IUI.
-
Creating presentations and graphics to educate others on both the organization and the event.
-
Presenting on this event to other IUI students looking for volunteer opportunities.
-
Sharing surveys and QR codes to get the theme and logo from the community.
-
Backlogging previous years submissions in a central database from 2024-2019.
-
Organizing the frames and nametags for art.
-
Tabling for the event while it was taking place.
-
Distributing information and goodies during the event to community members.
-
Faciliating getting volunteers for the event by being the main point of contact and establishing a clear volunteer schedule.
-
Training volunteers and coming up with activities for the to do in addition to the event.

This is the logo from the 2025 Art Expo. I was involved in the selection process of both the logo and the theme and spread surveys and QR codes to get more community involvement.
